“We hardly remember deciding anything, which is the highest praise we can give. The barn simply held us.”

Ashcombe is a working barn that has learned to be gentle. Nothing here is staged: the beams are original, the grass is long, the light is unhurried.

Couples tell us it felt like coming home to a place they had never been. We would like you to feel the same.

How a day at Ashcombe unfolds

Unhurried from the first guest to the last song. Your own day will have its own shape.

  1. Arrival

Guests wander into the courtyard for cold drinks and a quiet welcome.

  2. Ceremony

Vows in the orchard in fine weather, or beneath the oak beams if it rains.

  3. Drinks

Long grass, apple trees and the afternoon sun while the barn is made ready.

  4. Wedding breakfast

One long table under the barn roof, candles lit as the light goes.

  5. Evening

Dancing with the doors open to the orchard, for as long as you like.

“Our grandmother cried in the orchard, then danced in the barn until midnight. That is the day we wanted.”

“Every guest asked how we found it. We told them the truth: one visit and we stopped looking.”
